High Performance
QuantaDB is designed from the ground up for exceptional performance, making it a leading choice for demanding local data storage needs in Dart and Flutter applications.
At the core of QuantaDB's speed is its Log-Structured Merge Tree (LSM-Tree) based storage engine. Unlike traditional B-tree databases that perform in-place updates, LSM-Trees append data to sequential logs. This design offers significant advantages for write-heavy workloads:
- Optimized Writes: Sequential writes are generally much faster than random writes, reducing disk I/O overhead.
- Reduced Write Amplification: Data is written in larger, sequential blocks.
- Efficient Reads (with optimizations): While basic reads might require checking multiple levels of sorted data, QuantaDB employs optimizations like Bloom Filters and MemTables to quickly locate data, minimizing the need to read from disk.
- O(1) Bulk Operations: The
deleteAll
method achieves constant time complexity regardless of dataset size, making it extremely efficient for clearing large datasets.
The LSM-Tree architecture, combined with careful optimization in pure Dart, allows QuantaDB to achieve superior performance for both read and write operations, as demonstrated by the performance benchmarks.
